The ABCs of ADUs (On-Demand)

Have a client with an aging parent? A boomerang child? Looking to earn rental income? An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) might be exactly what they need.

On September 25, 2023, the Richmond City Council passed an ordinance allowing homeowners to build one accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on their single-family lot by-right, which means that the homeowner no longer has to obtain a Special Use Permit to do so.

This eLearning includes the following:
  • A webinar recording from Richmond's Director of Planning & Development, Kevin Vonck, about by-right ADUs in the city
